Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him–and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.
My thoughts:
Is it sad that am glad to be done with this book. I was so looking forward to reading it when I first heard about it but not so now.
First off the main character Harper is not my cup of tea. For someone who supposedly so smart she is really dumb. Gosh I wanted to shake her so bad when she just push the signs of her life not being so prefect aside for her image. I don’t know how she doesn’t become tired from acting prefect in everything I was tired just reading about it. The only characters I actual like where Mary Beth for being herself and not being born to walk in high heels. And David he was a nerdy kind of guy who did what and dress like he wants and don’t care what others thing. Oh the aunts where a riot in a half as well. Everyone else blah to me.
Second of the story itself dragged on to much for my liking and it focused more on the relationships then the action. Which I usual don’t mind, but there was to much in these story when I really wanted action. The action I did get was good my favorite though has to be the last three characters. It actual surprised me because I didn’t think that’s how it was going to go down.
Good twist, but I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of the series. I do want to know what happens since there was kinda a cliffhanger and the end however I don’t think I’ll actual buy more likely burrow it from the library.
