First read is switched by Amanda Hocking and the reason I picked this is because I needed to finish it. I started this awhile ago and it wasn’t for the fact that I didn’t like it, but the fact that other books got my attention. Rating: 4/5  https://nerdy4books.wordpress.com/2014/07/18/review-switched-by-amanda-hocking/

Review: How to Love by Katie Cotugno

Title: how to love

Author: Katie Cotugno

Page Count: 389

Publisher: Balzer + Bray

Series: N/A

Rating: 5/5

This is a sweet contemporary told in a duo before and after timeline. In the beginning its about the beginning love between Reena Montero,(the girl who wants to travel and write) and Sawyer LeGrande (the bad boy who has some issues he needs to get through). They’ve known each other all there lives and their families are friends and own a business together. They really never talked until a tragic shock them both up and they became closer Three years ago Sawyer left  before knowing that he was going to be a father, and now Reena had to deal with being a teen mom. Now three years later he’s back and want to make up for leaving and try not make up with Reena, and make up for the past.

The thing i liked that Katie Cotugno did really well was the whole before and after effect. This way you see both sides of the story and not have to guess to much. I enjoyed Reena as a character for the fact that she was very goal originated until of course she got pregnant. Even when she had Hannah she was a good mom even though her family dramatics has changed when her whole plans had to be changed.Even Sawyer as a character was complicated he comes from a good family and yet Sawyer has some issues that just seems to build over time. When he comes back three years later he’s sober and is nicer all around. Also he tires to be a good father to Hannah and tie up lose ends.

I really loved this book and finished it in one night (yeah to sleepless night) and for the fact that i enjoyed it so much i brought the hardcover though i already had it in e-book (YOLO). The reason to enjoyed this book for the fact it deals with real issues that could happen in teen pregnancy. So if you haven’t already guessed i would recommend to buy this book, and let me know if you had read this book and what you thought.

like always happy reading 😀

Now that i rushed on about the bout of books now its time to say what i’ll be doing. I haven’t had the best luck when it comes to read-a-thon lately. So I want to read over 1000 words and i may be a little crazy but want to read a 100 pages a day. Yes am crazy but i hey i have to at least try. I will not be making a TBR because they never work for me, so i’ll be reading whatever i want to.

So these are my goals for the bout of books 11 more page count and hopefully finish good amount of my books in my TBR. Can’t wait for August 18 and get this read-a-thon. Good luck to those doing it and lets hope i keep up with my goals.

REVIEW: Switched by Amanda Hocking

Title: Switched

Author: Amanda Hocking

Series: Trylle #1

Page Count: 318

Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin

Rating: 4/5

Summary:

When Wendy Evenly was six years old her mother tempted to kill her believing that she was a monster. Now eleven years later living with her brother and aunt while her mother was locked up in a physic ward Wendy just wants to be normal.  However when she meets Finn Holmes she learns that maybe her mother was right about her all along.

Wendy soon learns that she is a changeling and was switched at birth, and that it was time to go home to Trylle. To keep her family safe she goes to this new world that’s both beautiful and frightening. She’ll learn more about herself and this new life that she was pushed into.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book though I felt bad for Wendy because of  the fact that  both her mother figures are not the nicest people especially to her. The first one tries to kill her and the other is a queen who doesn’t really talk to her unless to tell her what she’s doing wrong. Plus Wendy has to learn how to become a princess and someday rule Trylle someday. She just can’t catch a break.

Someone who was always in her corner though is runner Finn he reminds me of a errand boy. Which he is when he’s not bringing changelings back home. He is very soldier like an takes vey polite and he knows a lot. He is giving mixed signals to Wendy though he is always standing up for her.  Other characters like Rhys who was the comedian, and then there was Willa who was Wendy’s friend to help her with girl things like hair and makeup. Then there is I guess you can call the enemy Tove but he’s different from his family and try to as helpful as he can.  This whole first book is pretty much her learning about what she is, and get ready for big coming out party. Plus Wendy having big puppy love for Finn that she believes she finds pretty well but doesn’t.

I enjoyed this book for though it was pretty much a lets get you ready for your coming out party and have to push a lot of information down your throat before hand. I really like how Wendy stood up for herself when it came to things she believed in, even if it was against her mother (the ice queen).  This book has a magically element, and has good action to it so that it’s not all learning how to become a queen. I can’t wait to get the next two books to see what happens next  for Wendy and the rest of the Trylle.

Happy reading 😀

REVIEW: The Distance Between Us

Title: The Distance Between Us

Author: Kasie West

Publisher: Harper Teen

Reading Source: e-book

Page Count: 312

Rating: 5/5

Summary:

Caymen Meyers is a seventeen year girl who works at her mothers failing and also creepy doll shop. One day she meets rich guy Xander Spence the grandson of one of there most regular costumers coming in for a pickup. Caymen from that first meeting knew she wouldn’t like him but Xander never stay away. Soon they move into a friendship as they help each other find out what they want to do after high school.

My Thoughts:

This young adult contemporary is not about two people having a long distance relationship. Its more on the social status of the two main characters where Xander is the rich boy and Caymen is the poor girl.  I really enjoyed how there relationship started with no instant love more like a slow process to where it build up to it. Caymen is my favorite by far for the fact that she is a really sarcastic character, and you can’t take things to serious with her. Then Xander who is some what a two faced character but that is only of whose he around. Around his family he’s cold and indifferent, but around Caymen he’s happy. There was plenty of cute moments like the whole hot chocolate moments and the actual looking for there callings outside their family businesses.

I miss reading contemporaries they always put me in a good mood and this book sure did just that. I now can’t wait to  read more of Kasie West and more contemporaries like this. Any suggesting’s please leave in the comments below thanks and happy reading,

REVIEW: RUSH by Eve Silver

Title: RUSH

Author: Eve Silver

Series: The Game #1

Page Count: 361

Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books

Rating: 4.5/5

Summary: Miki Jones likes having everything controlled every since her mother passed away. That was until she saved a classmates little sister from getting hit by a truck, and ended up in the Lobby. Miki finds out that she’s “died” and now playing in the game where she and her teammates hunt and kill Drau (beautiful alien species). Now Miki has to balance her real life that she gets to go back to and have to act like nothing happen. And her Game life where she has to stay alive, and try to get answers that can help her understand what she’s actual fighting for.

My Thoughts:

I have a lot of good feeling while reading this book for multiply reasons. One being that duel world where Miki had to balance her real world with the Game world. I also liked that Miki asked questions some people would just get simply answers to things and leave at that. However Miki loved having everything under her control and so she wouldn’t take the simply answers as they given. I also enjoyed Jackson Tate I don’t know why but I love the characters who are hard to read and are secretive. To me those are the best to read about especially in this case. Jackson try to act like an asshole to Miki and to the others on the team saying that “every man for themselves” however he is the first to watch Miki’s back.

The end of this book was full of information and a action. There is an cliffhanger at the end that makes me want the second book but going to hold off and try not to spoil myself. If you enjoy reading about wars between humans and aliens then you would like this book. Or enjoy books where there is a videogame aspect to it, or a duel world pick up these book.

BookTube-A-Thon TBR

This is the second year for the BookTube-a-thon and am excited about trying to get through this week long readathon. The Booj haven’t done that will with TBR lately however I enjoyed the challenges, and want to give some a try. The challenges I will be doing are:

A cover with red on the cover and has pictures  I choose The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her own making by Catherynne M. Valente. For the fact the cover is read and each chapter has a picture above it like Harry Potter.

Starting and finishing a series and with this one I can’t decide on two different trilogies the Eve trilogy by Anna Carey which includes Eve, Once, and Rise. The other trilogy is the Crash by Nicole Williams which includes Crash, Clash, and Crush.

Book to movie and  the only one I have like that is The Princess Bride by William Goldman. I simply love the movie, but never knew it was a book, so I brought it and now I can’t wait to read it. Though its a big book and I won’t lie.

So those are my challenges that I want to try and hope that I can stick to it, and not vary off it to much.

Friday Read: Rush by Eve Silvers

This book is part of my random pick for the month of July and am really enjoying it so far. Am only 127 pages into it and hope to finish it today or early tomorrow we shall see.

Rush is about a girl name Miki Jones who lives a very control life that was until  she was killed by saving a little girl from getting hit by a truck. Instead of going to Heaven Miki finds herself in the Lobby where others like her go to kill Drau (an alien species). She now goes back and forth from her regular life to this “game”, with her team mates and try not permanently die in the process.
