MAYBE SOMEDAY by Colleen Hoover

Format: paperback

Publisher: Atria Paperback

Page Count: 367

Rating: 4/5

SUMMARY: This is a story about music and how it helped heal a girl with a broken heart and a boy with writer block. However as the music helped bring this two people together it also brought something to the table that neither wants to label or think about.

Okay so this is told in two POV’s. First there is Sydney who on her 22nd birthday found out that her best friend and boyfriend have been sleeping together.  So she left the apartment to end up with our second point of view Ridge. Who turns out to be a deaf music writer whose in the middle of major writers block. However with Sydney’s brilliant song writing talents they make beautiful music together. And of course something more.

Except for the fact that Ridge has had a girlfriend for the past 5 years.

LOVED…

I enjoyed reading Ridge’s character he is a loyal friend and boyfriend. Who takes his deafness into the fullness and doesn’t downplay it. And his brother and best friend Warren treats him like  a regular guy. Loved this. Also I loved watching the prank wars between the roommates in the apartment. The music element was cool to read about. How Ridge can write music and know the cords and pitches a song needs to be. It’s a great example of how a character overcome a disability to do what he’s good at.

I Disliked…

Sydney at moments. For example during the prank war she’s a beginner however she tries. Also I like when Sydney’s being sarcastic it comes naturally to her which makes it more fun. But damn can this girl cry. Ever other page she has tears in her eyes or she is crying into her hands. I get that she had it shitty in the beginning however she just kept putting herself in that situation. Plus for someone who didn’t want be a Tori or a Hunter she didn’t exactly fight it.

Something I also didn’t get was the fact that they were so open with each other. However than why the hell did it took so long for Sydney to move out. Am sorry after that first kiss Ridge should have told Sydney that she needed to leave. Or Sydney needed to do it herself. Instead they try to be less attracted to each other by listing flaws. Am just saying the moving out should have been sooner than it actual was.

Maybe Someday is a really cute contemporary  that am glad I got to and going to be getting Maybe Not to see things from Warrens Point of View. And I’ll be continuing on the Colleen Hoover train so toot toot.

CONFESSION: I Rage While I Read

It’s really funny how much I yell at characters while reading. I know that doing so wont help, but it does help in a way. I can’t help that am an emotionally reader who enjoys talking to characters about there stupid decision. So here is a list of types authors write about that can bring the rage inside me.

Teens. I mean come on do you know how many things can be solved by two characters just talking it out. But no they have to hold it in and act like everything’s prefect. Then follow them because you don’t trust them. Looking at you Lucy Larson from the Crush trilogy. You know what you did. Also how about the fact that some friendships are very shallow and if there is a guy interested into two friends. Forget about it.

Friend and friend who like each other but wont admit it. Reading Anna and the French Kiss for how long it took them together. Oh my Paris if I could count how many times they could have just been together. Another example of opening your mouth and talking it out. Or if they talk about the attraction yet still won’t do anything about it cause they won’t break up with who there with. I got this while reading Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. I was upset with both Sydney and Ridge for not being smarter how they handle the situation. Seniors in high school should be smarter than that but apparently its only a silly wish on my part.

Unfit parents. Yes am talking about those people who shouldn’t reproduced. However by some miracle, drunken night, or stupidity (pick one they all work here) they have a kid or many. I applause authors who can make some of the worse parents and enough to make me rage. Oh but I don’t rage I throw books and cuss at them and close the book as I try to get over the rage. Its fun to see characters over come those horrible people, but may take a while to do so. Examples: Cinder, Cruel Beauty, and Incarnate just to name a few.

Unnecessary deaths. I love my secondary characters. I don’t know why, but I have a huge soft spot for them. Like Chuck from The Maze Runner (which came first to mind because I watched the movie). I loved him and his death was 1) unnecessary and 2)if it was then why do it that way. I had such a rage on the fact that it dies that I couldn’t read the rest of the series. It seems every time I grow attached to secondary characters they die on me which just piss me off more than anything.

So I made my list and hope you can agree and if you disagree let me know. I just don’t have that much tolerance in people that do stupid things. Or anything else that I put in my list. Let me know what makes you rage while reading books. Maybe I missed some and would love your input.

Until next time. keep reading bookworms:)

JULY Wrap Up

I haven’t been in the best mood for anything lately. I just haven’t had the energy to do anything, but lay around. So in July I read four books which am impressed with on how my mood is.

Loyalty in Death by J.D. Robb book 9 in the In Death series  5/5….In this installment Eve has to stop a bomb group named Cassandra that are enjoying taunting Eve with letters.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover 4/5….. I enjoyed this book for the most part except for how everything comes to light.

Crash by Nicole Williams book 1 in the Crash trilogy 4/5….This trilogy has been sitting on my self forever and decide its time to read at least the first one to see how it was. And I actual enjoyed this book all the way through.

Witness in Death by J.D. Robb book 10 in the In Death series 5/5….This installment is set on stage where a murder happens in front of a theater full of witness’s. Including Lieutenant Eve Dallas.

That’s it am not really expecting August to be a better month but am kind a hopefully. So there is my late July wrap up and since I’ve seen other post I wont ask how everyone did. Because I already know. Until my next post which will hopefully be soon.

Have a good weekend am going out of town and have to be in the car for three hours. So yeah. 🙂
