Another Book Birthday

Summary:

Lorelai Diederich, crown princess and fugitive at large, has one mission: kill the wicked queen who took both the Ravenspire throne and the life of her father. To do that, Lorelai needs to use the one weapon she and Queen Irina have in common—magic. She’ll have to be stronger, faster, and more powerful than Irina, the most dangerous sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.

In the neighboring kingdom of Eldr, when Prince Kol’s father and older brother are killed by an invading army of magic-wielding ogres, the second-born prince is suddenly given the responsibility of saving his kingdom. To do that, Kol needs magic—and the only way to get it is to make a deal with the queen of Ravenspire, promise to become her personal huntsman…and bring her Lorelai’s heart.
But Lorelai is nothing like Kol expected—beautiful, fierce, and unstoppable—and despite dark magic, Lorelai is drawn in by the passionate and troubled king. Fighting to stay one step ahead of the dragon huntsman—who she likes far more than she should—Lorelai does everything in her power to ruin the wicked queen. But Irina isn’t going down without a fight, and her final move may cost the princess the one thing she still has left to lose. -goodreads

Series: Ravenspire #1

Another Snow White retelling where I’ve read a couple of pages and already don’t like the stepmother. She has the ambition of Lavanna from the The Lunar Chronicles. So if am right about this then I can’t wait to read more of these.

Ebook Review: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Rating: 2/5

This would be my third Colleen Hoover book and I have to say that it wasn’t the worse. To be honest I don’t get the hype behind this book. Then again am not the biggest fan of romance unless its done right.
I didn’t root for the main characters because Tate kept crying over the fact that Miles wont open up and yet she keeps going back. Then you know what happens she starts crying. Miles will cry if you confront him about his past and there will be Tate telling him its okay he doesn’t need to tell her. UGH. I feel bad for Miles in a way however you can figure out after reading his POV because he went through some crap that no eighteen should experience.
So talking about his POV I didn’t like how for a guy who’s about eighteen act like a middle schooler with his first crush. At love at first sight to I just couldn’t. They way he describe stuff just made me roll my eyes, but then again am that much of a romantic so that’s against me. And when Tate and Miles meet it wasn’t that much better.

Now to get off the negatives there is one character that I simply loved and that’s Cap. He may be eighty years old however he has experience that made him prefect to be there for both Tate and Miles while they where going through there stupid phase. Also the ending wasn’t that bad even though it took a lot of meh to get to it.

I didn’t want to do this review since I know how many people love this book and everything else Colleen Hoover writes. I still don’t get the hype after three books in, and I’ll probably keep borrowing from my library.

REVIEW: On The Fence by Kasie West

Publisher: Harper Teen

Format: e-book

Page count: 296

Rating: 5/5

Summary: For sixteen-year-old Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, being raised by a single dad and three older brothers has its perks. She can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows—including her longtime neighbor and honorary fourth brother, Braden. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn’t know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world of makeup, lacy skirts, and BeDazzlers. Even stranger, she’s spending time with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game.
To cope with the stress of faking her way through this new reality, Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with Braden by the fence that separates them. But their Fence Chats can’t solve Charlie’s biggest problem: she’s falling for Braden. Hard. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

My Thoughts:

Charlie is a girl who was raised by guys. Charlie has no real memory of her mother and doesn’t really want to. She just want to play pick up games with her 3 older brothers and her neighbor. However thanks for a speeding ticket Charlie has to get a job. And everything changes. She starts to see there is more to her than being a tom boy and that she can connect with other non sporty girls, dress up, wear makeup, and even tries dating. She’s also comes to term with what really happens to her mother, who she doesn’t really remember.

The relationship between Charlie and her brothers was really sweet. They are really close and you can see that when they joke, and talk to each other that they love each other. Plus their dad is a really busy cop who clearly needs help in rising daughters. However he tries and loves all his children which is all you can ask for. Plus we have Braden who is pretty much another son/brother next door neighbor. Braden has his own problems at his own house and loves being part of the chaos in the Reynolds household. Also he becomes a great listening ear to Charlie though he didn’t agree on everything she did or say.

I love Kasie West books because there such a character growth in a story. Its not all romance its about relationships with her brothers and father. Also figuring out what your comfortable in and what you really want. Also if you’ve read The Distance Between us you’ll be seeing little of those characters. Am not much of contemporary reader however I’ll read Kasie West and Morgan Matson books anytime.

Random Post:The Ways I Spend My Time Lately

So here is 10 ways I’ve been spending my time instead of anything really. I try to at least read and keep up my blog and am struggling somewhat. Its not that am in a slump really. However I still need a little more work on both.

  1. start 4 to 5 books at the same time.
  2. then read a good chunk of at least one before putting it down for a month.
  3. watch plenty of YouTube videos of any kind.
  4. fanfiction is a type of reading that you wont find on your bookshelf.
  5. listening to Hamilton Musical because that has a addicting soundtrack.
  6. Put other hobbies that have been on the back burner front and center.
  7. organize your TBR on either your bookcase or give Goodreads a good cleaning.
  8. buy books because there is always time to buy more book you may read.
  9. go on some of my favorite sites like twitter, Goodreads, and Instagram to watch others be more productive.
  10. Working and sleeping is pretty much my favorite two things to do right now.

Currently Reading

I started to read this book for two reasons. One I have nothing but good from this book. And lastly the trailer for the book just came out. Made me extra excited to read it now.

The book is Me before You by Jojo Moyes. So let’s see how long this will take me. So far am enjoying it.

Top 5 Wednesday

Topic: top 5 major badasses

1. Eve Dallas from J.D. Robb’s in death series. She’s a Lieutenant who gets her cases solved and don’t let anyone stand in her way.

2. Roarke from J.D. Robb in death series. Roarke came from being a Dublin’s street rat to becoming one of the riches man out there.

3. Damon Black from Jennifer L. Armentrout Lux series. He is a badass from day one which made me fall in love with him.

4.Mark Watney from The Martian book. Because if any many can survivor on a another planet as long as he did. That makes him a total badass

5. Krestel from Marie Ruthoski Winner Curse series. She’s a badass for how she strategize and can think on her feet.

This list was harder than I thought but here it is. I love badasses in books for they make me laugh and love them quicker.
