Audible Mini Reviews on Helena Hunting Books

I went on a bit of a marathon of Helena Hunting books. It’s in the order that they were read and have a short summary and what I thought. All these where audible listens and all pretty quick story wise.

1.PUCKED (Nathan Everett & Muffy Newton) 10hrs. and 48 mins

Alex and Violet had an attraction since they first laid eyes on each other at one of his hockey games and it’s been intense ever since. I love Violet and her no filter personality that you don’t know what’s about to come out of her mouth. Then there’s Alex who’s a hockey player with a cute accident. The humor and drama made me continue on the series for I really enjoyed all the characters.

PUCKED UP (Joe Arden) 11hrs and 18mins

Miller (Buck) and Sunshine (Sunny). Buck has been known to sleep around however that changed when he meets his team mates little sister Sunny. Then Buck had a whole new relationship to try on. Sunny has to learn if she can trust Buck and not the pictures she sees on the internet about him. This one was weird because it was never put in Sunny’s POV. The rest of the series is in duel POV and yet this one was left out. I enjoyed Sunny for she’s a total a hippy who says things that would make people uncomfortable. Then there is Buck who is trying to change for Sunny but that isn’t always that easy. It was plenty of ups and downs in their relationships with totally unnecessary drama and making up. It was one roller-coaster that I probably shouldn’t have enjoyed but did.

PUCKED OVER (Rose Dioro & Jacob Morgan) 10hrs 37mins

Randy and Lily. They ended with a misunderstanding that had them stop talking. Until they meet back up at one of his games and decided to go the sex with no strings attached. Living in two countries and trying to make time to hook up. Makes the no string harder than they both thought. I love Randy he is such a big kid that makes me just want to cuddle him. While Lily is someone that just been in a long relationship that she knew wasn’t going anywhere. When they came together Randy became horny dog while being protective over Lily. It was a pain while also really sweet.

FOREVER PUCKED (Emily C. Michaels & Jeremy York) 10hrs and 10mins

Alex and Violet have been engaged for a while and though Violet wants to marry Alex with both their mother planning their big day gives her hives. Violet has been keep putting everything off until an accident with Alex makes Violet rethink putting it off.

(I liked how Helena had written about my favorite sport Hockey, had some really interesting characters. Plus, she played off some other words then pucked. Now all I need is a Lance and Tasha because even though Lance is noticed as a player he’s loyal and needs Tasha in his life. That’s all I ask.)

THE LIBRARIAN PRINCIPLE (Maxine Mitchell) 10hrs and 52 mins

I have a very meh view on this book. The characters where okay but I didn’t really get behind nor really cared. I was pretty much seeing if anything would happen if they were found out. However, nothing really happened. Not if you count the stalker which didn’t go anywhere. Some humor but wasn’t enough and though I finished it it was my least favorite out of this marathon.

CLIPPED WINGS (Elizabeth Louise & Jason Carpenter) 12hrs and 29mins INKED ARMOR 11hrs and 10 mins

Hayden and Tenley both broken people who are trying to find peace with the stuff they’ve been through. This duology was interesting in the friendship between the main and secondary characters. This wasn’t just about the romance it was more about closer, finding peace, and have good friends that are supportive. This duology was a good wrap up to Helena Hunting marathon I had while I was road tripping.

So the only book I didn’t like is THE LIBRARIAN PRINCIPLE which out of seven books isn’t bad at all. If you want to try her books out start with either Pucked or Clipped Wings both where really good and I recommend them.

Ebook haul (because I can’t stop)

It’s crazy how much I spend on ebooks. Here are the 34 books I got  so far…

Fun times I have read 6 out of 34  thanks to buying the audible. So yeah here is my ebook haul that is only part one because it’s still the beginning of the month.

Also am going on vacation these coming week and super excited. Am going back to my hometown to visit family. Audible is going to be my go to for books since am not bringing any physical.

So yeah just a little update and how am spending my week. Happy Reading all.

The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness

Series: Chaos Walking-2

Page Count: 519

Summary:  We were in the square, in the square where I’d run, holding her, carrying her, telling her to stay alive, stay alive till we got safe, till we got to Haven so I could save her – But there weren’t no safety, no safety at all, there was just him and his men…

Fleeing before a relentless army, Todd has carried a desperately wounded Viola right into the hands of their worst enemy, Mayor Prentiss. Immediately separated from Viola and imprisoned, Todd is forced to learn the ways of the Mayor’s new order. But what secrets are hiding just outside of town? And where is Viola? Is she even still alive? And who are the mysterious Answer? And then, one day, the bombs begin to explode
In summary this is what the book did to me

clappinggiff.gifThis keeps going from where the Knife of Never Letting Go. And just so you know there is kind of spoilers since this is the second book.

Things to Know:
1: this book has plenty of death. Patrick Ness totally upped his death list. Which totally work since this is war and there will be death. Some where more harder than others and that last one hurt more than I thought it would.

2: The fighting is between Major Prentiss and the Ask which is a group that regrouped when the Major took over. However the ending had a nice twist that brings a different element to the war that isn’t good.

3: Major Prentiss is simply losing it. I swear that he’s on a crazy fave. Just the way he talked and acted made you think that he wasn’t 100% alright in the head. He also has some issues with women. He pretty much treat them like cattle and gosh I wanted to hurt him. However the women show him how strong they can be. Go Haven Rebels.

4: This book is a 500 page book however the past is quick. Plus it had a so much happening in the war effects on both side that just made me want to keep reading.

5: If you love Todd and Viola moments there is very few in this book. They get separated in the very first page and only see each other three times after. However as you reading each other POV they where always thinking about the other. They didn’t overly care about the war effects only of how they’ll survive it together.

6: this book is also pretty dark in areas. Like the things that Todd does can be disturbing. Todd and Viola grow up so much with all the crap they see. Todd though I was most afraid of. He was going dark and it hurt from how he was in the first book.

7: one thing I didn’t like was that there was a chance at a love triangle which I wasn’t ready for it wanted to happen. I liked the other guy, but not for a love interest. Please no.

With this series I have to take a bit of a break between them because they hurt my heart. So am hoping to get to the last book Monster of Men and am not ready for it. That ending killed me on so many reason and I had the break to wrap my head around it. Highly recommend for those who haven’t read this series. It’s so good.

Audible Haul

So this is my biggest audible haul of these year and I love it. Listening to books have pretty much been my favorite format at the moment so I collect a lot of them. Here is the 32 audible books I’ve brought in June..

Audible has deals like e books that I can’t always resist but also they have this buy three credits for 30 something dollars which I use a lot. I have found audible as a trade off when I don’t want to listen to music but still want to listen to something. Being if am out shopping with my mom, or cleaning at my work. I just play a book and try to keep my face expression not to extreme because bring that out of me. Also in the middle of July am going on vacation so listening to some books will make the long car ride more enjoyable.

Now all is left is my book haul which is pretty big one and am waiting for one book to come before posting it. I brought it in June so it will be in my June haul that’s if it every show up.

June Reading Wrap Up

Cupcakes and Ink by Helena Hunting (e-book)

Novella that splits between both Tenley Page and Hayden Stryker. It show how Tenley is starting to adapt to a new city. While Hayden a tattoo artist from across the street wondering who the new girl working for his aunt. Throughout this short story it shows the attraction between the two and then a cat and mouse game afterward. Gave this book a 3/5.

The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness (audible + paperback)

I still haven’t gotten a review up for this book, but I will say that I loved this sequel. It was a duel POV between Viola and Todd that shows both side of the war. From the first page to the last had me engaged the whole time and I need to get to Monster of Men in July. Even if it kills me. 5/5

The BFG by Roald Dahl (audible)

This was a cute children’s book that I read because of the movie. If you read this you can’t take anything serious because it was written for kids. However I don’t overly recommended the audible. Only because there is sound effects like eating and other disturbing sounds related to it. But if you okay with that then its a quick way to get through it. 3/5

HP: and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling (audible)

Listened to in one sitting and learned somethings about the story that I didn’t know before this. 4/5

HP: and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (audible)

same as the first book. 4/5

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (paperback + audible)

I heard about this book via twitter and wanted to give it a try since I haven’t read a paranormal book in a good while. And let me just say I simple loved this book as if you follow my twitter would know. There are really strong characters and lots of elements in these book that kept me intrigued until the end. 5/5

Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness (audible)

I ordered Shadow of Night and Book of Life when I was halfway done with A Discovery of Witches because I knew I wanted to continue on. I couldn’t wait for them to come so brought the audible of the last two books.  And I have to say this sequel didn’t disappoint. Again with action and this time in a different place. I finished this book in 3 days and just want to continue. 5/5

I read three books over 500 pages which am really happy about since big books always scared me. However I’ve learned that audible helps with that a lot along with other formats. Also I’ve started 2 series continued 1, read a novella, and a children book. Next month I’ll be getting to more series/trilogies. Fingers crossed.
