Book Haul: Birthday & Christmas Haul

Okay this is late I know and oops. Anyway these is thanks to gift cards and some of my own money. Gift cards to me are totally boxsets for me so I got those.

First let’s talk about my birthday I got a giftcard and brought these books with it.

Duology: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Now I have no excuse to not read these since the first book itself I have in three different formats.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Another no excuse because I’ve been wanting to read this for awhile. I’ve heard it is a love it or hate it type of book and am excited to see which side I am.

Christmas Time: no one knows what to get me so gift cards are always welcomed.

Series: The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chaimani

Want to read forever and now I have the books to do it.

Nevernight is a book I’ve been wanting to read since it can out but it was expensive. Until I found a coupon on a book site that discounted a book. I choose this and only payed 10 bucks for it.

I want to read a 100 books this year and I also want to keep better track of my reading. That’s what log comes in there are 100 pages so if I feel up these book then I  completed my goal.

This is so late and I have no excuse other than I forgot. I put it up on my instrgram and that was it. So hope you have a good weekend and hope you like my birthday/Christmas haul.

Audible Review:We Should Hangout Sometimes

Author: Josh Sundquist

Narrated by Josh Sundquist

Format: audible

Length: 6/4

Rating: 3/5

This is his true story on how for 25 years Josh has been single and his journey on figuring out what went wrong. Josh has different situations with girls where it didn’t work out for one reason or another. It went by introduction of the girl and how he knows them. How it went wrong. Then Josh meeting up with them to try, and figure out what happened. It went to awkward to growing slowly for Josh at each discovery.

My Thoughts:

I listened to this book, and listening to Josh tells his story is like being at party and just talking about the bumps of relationships. Josh is a smart nerd that has a disability. However Josh is a regular guy who loves science and math. Though I’ve never been good at math/science or loss a body part. I can connect to him in his struggle to connecting to people.

So the story itself was pretty quick and felt like it was just  a bunch of short stories rolled into one. Which if that’s what Josh wanted it points to him. Other than that its pretty much about the past and then present time. Its a memoir so I guess this is how there written which is something am not used to.

The ending was cute if not a little rushed. However am glad to have listened to Josh’s story and can’t wait for more of his books in the future.

Happy Tuesday 🙂

Currently Reading

To many books and not all of them all on Goodreads.

White Cat by Holly Black 24%

Listening to through audio and I started it to see if a different genre would help with me to read a lot more. Right now am still not 100% whats going on currently.

Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken 34%

I have been waiting for this book for a year and would love to read it the same month it came out. However my reading mood haven’t been that great so puts a damper on actually reading this book.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

doubling listening and reading by e-book. The beginning was really good but am kind of bored in the middle. I just thought it would be darker and more training.

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin 12%

Another e-book/audio combo. I have a hard time with books like these for the language and names gets me confused. So this is a really confused reading and feels like a history lesson. I cant wait until it actually gets to the race part.

So as you can see am doing good with starting books, but not close to finishing any of them. I may need to take a break through I don’t want to because who knows how long it’ll last.

hope everyone had a good reading week.

Top 16 Favorite Reads..

So since its pretty much the end of 2016 here is the 16 books that I really enjoyed these year. This list is not in order just random titles/series list so enjoy…

Counting Daisies by Nicola Haken

This was such a truthful books to me how young love can come together again. That how addiction can bring ups and downs to everyone’s life. Plus great humor and characters are just a great bonus.

Simon vs. the homo sapiens by Becky Albertalli

This book took me forever to read and so glad that I finally read it. I have a soft spot for letter exchanges and trying to figure out who the other love interest is. Plus again the characters where such a job to read about and see them grow up a little.

Pucked Series by Helena Hunting

This is a straight up guilty read  series for me. I love how each book involves two different characters yet still have the pervious ones in there. This is a straight up laugh feast with great friendships and sex.

Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

This book took me by surprise and I got addicted to it really quickly. The way that the author writes is beautiful along with having a strong main character yes please. Also it had a mystery that I couldn’t figure out and just couldn’t wait for it to be shown.

Cormorant Strike series by Robert Galbraith

I didn’t think I would enjoy this series but of course I feel in love with it. This series reminds me why I love mystery books and I really want to get into more of them. I love the relationship between Cormoran and Robin them working together is goals. It gets better with each book and I can’t wait until the next book.

As You Wish by Cary Elwes

I love the movie the Princess Bride and so to read the actors and actresses telling the story of how each came to get the parts. To them working on some of my favorite parts. This was everything and highly recommend listen to all of them tell the story.

Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman

I don’t have to say much about this because plenty people have read and loved it. Me obviously included.. I didn’t think I would enjoy this series because am not much of a science fiction type of girl. However listening to this series will probably change your mind on that. It sure did me.

Wonder by R.J Palacio

This had to be the cutest book I read all year. Witnessing this little boy who has a facial deformity go from home schooling to public school. Auggie adjusting to a new environment, and making friends was the sweetest if not sometime heartbreaking.

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Gah this book was so good. It is so underrated and need to be read for the pure enjoyment. The strong female lead the adventure of traveling across the world. To all time sweetheart that is Poe. I just can’t and highly recommend people to read this.

Alcatraz by Brandon Sanderson

This was pure fun. Also my first try with a Brandon Sanderson book and glad I went for this series. I love how Alcatraz would put witty comments in the book to the readers. Plus his family is absolutely crazy in the best way possible. Going to finish in 2017.

All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness

I finished this series in a couple week and this are no small books. I got so caught up in the mystery, traveling, love story, and characters that I couldn’t stop until the end. And that ending. I want more from these characters because I love them to much to say goodbye.

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

Beautiful. The world the strong female character. I love how raw this book can be with Kelsea trying to bring her kingdom back. I loved all the characters and just need to continue on to know what is going to happen.

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Another guilty read that I have the same feeling for as the Puck series. I listened to these on audiobook and highly recommend them because each character gets there own voice and makes it more fun.

Big Rock/ Mister O by Lauren Blakely

Those titles still get to me for how stupid they are. However the stories themselves are so good. It has a male POV along with no real drama that most romances write about. I devoted these two books and can’t wait to read the next one Well Hunged.

Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting

This was a  straight up cute and a growing up kind of book. Both main characters have some deep baggage that they each had to deal with. Then come together as a couple was just beautiful in my eyes.

Tokyo Heist by Diana Renn

I loved the setting how much research the author went to making you seem like your in Tokyo. Plus I did enjoy the mystery a lot even if I did predict some of it.

This is actual late which is a boo. Though I did write this before hand and saved it to my draft. So yeah these are some of my favorites of 2016. With 116 books read this year wasn’t the easiest, but I did it.

2017 Revolutions Goals

This is a bit late but here is the goals I set myself. Hopefully I can complete all if not all but all of these would be fun. So here it is and lets go…

  1. Read 100 books. I did this last year so am hoping to get to do it again in 2017.
  2. Read all the preorders I have for this coming year. Also it would be nice to get some of 2016 reads since I’d only read maybe a hand count of them.
  3. Complete the Around the Year in 52 Book. To do this I need to make sure that I read at least two a month.
  4. Each month I want to try and read a series/trilogy/or duo. Or at least start or continue and remember to keep up.
  5. Review each of my books. Either writing it down or on goodreads right after I finish. Because then I won’t have a bunch to do at once.
  6. Also, to go with the last one note taking. I really want to start annotating inside my books marking parts I loved and favorite quotes.
  7. I need to read more from my TBR piles. They are all in the triple digits. As recent I don’t have my books so collecting kindle books have gone a little crazy. Now I have all these digital books that I really need to get through. I don’t have a number to g
  8. Speaking of buying I really need to be my picky in what I buy. Especially when it comes to eBooks. So, I want to keep going with the books that I know I want to read sooner than much later.

This maybe a flop because am never good at remembering goals set for myself until the last minute. So wish me luck and lets kick 2017 butt.
