Book Review: Second Chance Summer

Author: Morgan Matson

Page Count: 468

Format: paperback

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Genre: contemporary Ya

Rating: 5/5

Summary: The Taylor’s are going back to there summer home after tragic news are told to them. Now with only a summer they need to pack a lot of bounding time together. And if that isn’t enough Taylor has to deal with people she left behind 5 years that she didn’t want to see again. The Edwards have a hard road ahead this summer and have to stick together.

Finished this book and let me tell you I cried. It took me by surprise and I couldn’t really stop. Am all caught up with my Morgan Matson books and now just have to wait for Everything Everything to come out.
Loved how this story had different elements of friendships, love and family, and lost. For though am laughing at parts my heart still went out for Taylor and her family. Because though Taylor goes through a summer job to getting a second chance in a old friendship and relationship. Taylor has to deal with what’s happening to her dad and spending time with him. Those where the cutest moments. The romance wasn’t overly cheesy which is A+ in my book. And it wasn’t just Taylor and Henry but also Taylor’s big brothers try at a romance.

There was growth from Taylor not being a runner. To Taylor’s whole family go from being distant from each other to becoming closer. The siblings came together but also let other people come and talk to them when they couldn’t talk to family.

I did have a problem with the fact that conflict that was caused at age 12 lasted for 5 years. I know to a 12 year old it may be major but come on Lucy and Henry should have gotten over it sooner. Also when Taylor asked Henry if he believes in second chances that was actual the third chance.

Plus I would have liked a little more at the end. Why do contemporary authors leave there stories so open ended. Also to see more the side characters would have been cool.

Other than that I loved this book and like I said can’t for the newest one to come out. Sorry for how long this is if you made it all the way through your a superstar.

Review:Finding Dandelion by Lex Martin

Series: Dearest#2

Page Count: 310

Source: Kindle

Rating: 3.5/5

Summary: When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach. But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate’s brother? That’s a shock.

This book is really cute but not as good as Dearest Clementine. First off the first 16 chapters was a rerun of the first book. Which is cool since you get a backstory and how they meet and so on. However since Dani was Clem’s roommate they could of meet anytime after the first book. Oh and after chapter 16 it’s there story and how they meet again but he doesn’t remember her. Then she totally tries to pretend that he doesn’t exist. Which brings the whole of talked this through then it would have been easier. But no it took and accident that happened before thanksgiving that got them to talk.

Another thing is this book was in dual POVs. Which I didn’t understand why the author did this in the second book and not the first one. It was mostly Dani but there was plenty of Jax also. It was kinda nice to see Jax background and why he is a pimp who knows how to kick butt on a soccer field.
Things I didn’t like for one the plot kinda of ran the same length as Dearest Clementine. It just seemed like I’ve read it before and skipped over some of it. Also for the fact it drags as their thinking of each other or what to do. Further more Dani kept using hashtag which wasn’t even in a message form. She would random think of something then put hashtag after in. #WTF lol just joking.
So even though I enjoyed the book and thought it was cute. I still enjoyed Clem’s story more. Don’t know if am going to start the last one. Maybe later if am up to it.

Mid- Year Book Freak Out Tag

I’ve seen this tag around mostly on Booktube then anywhere, however I decided to bring it to my blog. So here are my answers for the tag.

1.Best book you’ve read so far in 2015. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. Hands down  it made me smile, rave and everything good I look in a book.

2.Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2015. The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michele Hodkins. I know that plenty of people weren’t happy with the ending, However I did so I was happy.

3.New release you haven’t read, yet but want to. Empire of Night by Kelley Armstrong which is the sequel to the Sea of Shadows. I really want to get on with this trilogy and see what’s happening next.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year. Winter by Marissa Meyers. I need to know how Cinder and the gang are going to stop Queen Levana on her own turf.

5. Biggest disappointment. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. This was my first Colleen Hoover and I was disappointed to see how predictable it was.

6. Biggest surprise. I’ve heard so much on this book that I was scared I wouldn’t like it. However when I read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas the hype is actual worth it.

7. Favorite new author. Stacey Marie Brown. I haven’t read many of her books but I do like how she writes paranormal adult books.

8. Newest fictional crush. Roake from In Death series by J.D. Robb. I smile every time I think about Roake and his Irish ascent.

9. Newest favorite character. Kestrel for the Winners trilogy by Marie Rutkoski. She is so smart and such a good stagiest. I love how strong she is using her brain then actual muscle.

 10. Book that made you cry. I haven’t cried yet this year over a book and am not much of a crier anyway so no surprise.

11. Book that made you happy. That would have to be In Death series by J.D. Robb. I don’t know why but listening/reading this series always put me in a good mood and happy.

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year. Only adaption I watched was the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. I know that people don’t enjoy these books. But I do so I enjoyed seeing it on film. Even though it made me laugh a lot on the parts I remembered in the book being on screen.

13. Favorite review you’ve written this year. (Booktube version: Favorite video you have done so far in this year.) My review on Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I really worked on hard on that review.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received). The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. I just think the cover is really pretty.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year? I need to read a lot books if I can get more reading done then recent then I’ll be happy. Especially my series’ they just seem to be getting out of control.

That was some what painless though some I had to think on. Yes there is duplicates but I haven’t had the best reading month so had to work with what I got. Hope you enjoyed this tag if you did please give it a like or a comment.

Until next time have a good day book nerds.
