BR: When Dimple Mets Rishi

Author: Sandhya Menon

Format: audible/hardback

Page Count: 384

Rating: 2/5

Summary: Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?

Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.

The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

My thoughts: Am not much of a contemporary reader and this book is a example of why that is.

Disliked:

How fast the romance happened. It wasn’t a hate to like as I expected because I thought Dimple would put up more of a fight. Nope. Especially in the beginning where she’s like I don’t need no man and want to force on her app. And yet your holding Rishi’s hand and kissing him showed more than her actually spending on the app.

How the building of the app and how it’s done was put on the back burner for most of the book. Only being mentioned in the beginning a little in the middle and end. A unnecessary talent show had more pages then the actually reason Dimple was there.

How Dimple kept changing her mind about Rishi and him just being okay with it. Rishi is like a loyalty puppy and he just wants to make Dimple happy. But she gives and takes back and tells him constantly that they can’t be together. The hot and cold act doesn’t flow well with me especially if your hurting someone else by changing your mind so often.

Why the author makes two seemly strong girls talking about dimple and Celia who were excited for the con fall for guys so quickly. Then it’s all about how they feel for them and making them happy and I just become disappointed.

I hated Dimples reason to breaking up with Rishi. And since every contemporary has them breaking up and getting back together that isn’t a spoiler by saying that.

Things I Liked:

There are some quirky things that made me smile like Rishi’s brother is the typically little brother who likes to get under his brothers skin by not following his parents.

I also like the comic/drawing parts no again it has nothing to do with tech. However it shows Rishi’s passion and how deeply he loves what he makes. Also Celia was a cool character when she wasn’t hanging with those “friends” she made in the beginning. I enjoyed the family aspects though I would have liked them more present.

Other than that I was disappointed by this book especially how hyped it is. It’s just to romance base for me and wish there was a bit more of other elements to it.

August Wrap Up for 2017

There will be reviews for all of them and not just the three I linked below. Am slowly getting back to reviewing so it will be up soon-ish.

Hunting(su)Rating: 4/5

Series: N/A

Genre: Contemporary/Romance

Reviewed: YES/NO

Summary: He owned her since he was the reason she blew her audition which caused her to lose her place.

Albert(su)

Rating: 3/5

Series: gaymers-1

Genre: m/m romance

Summary: Two men who are totally opposite bound over a road-trip across country.

Another gay romance that I thought was cute especially with them being on the road in a RV with two dogs. However though the book was cute and I didn’t have many problems with it. It was a meh  read for me.

McCormack (fu)

Favorite read of June I could not stop listening to the audiobook because I just needed to know more. Yes it is predictable at times however McManus knows how to weave a good mystery together along with friendship and a dash of a romance. PLEASE GO READ IT.

Overdue Book Haul

So like my wrap ups for the months I’ve been behind on book hauls. Probably because am supposed to be on a book buying ban, but am to much of a nerd to not keep buying them. And this isn’t even showing my kindle books.

PROTOSTAR & SUPERNOVA by Braxton A. Cosby I got for free from the author for an honest review. Which makes me feel bad that I haven’t finished either.

GLIDED CAGE by Vic James I won thanks to a goodreads giveaway which was a totally surprise to achieve in the mail.

img_0349img_0352img_0348

The next three picture are from two different book outlet orders. 17 hardbacks along with 5 paperback. I have only read Gemina and me wanting an actually copy of the book.

So here is my overdue book haul and more will be coming soon because I love buying books even if I don’t read them right away.

Friday Read (still reading these :/)

I just finished The Hating Game by Sally Thorne and will have a review up coming next week. Now time to get back to the two books that I’ve been reading forever.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber am 45% through

By Your Side by Kasie West am 63% through

I need to finish these so that I can have a clean swipe for next week. For next week is when I read Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard for a buddy read am doing. I haven’t read this series for the reason when it came out there was way to much hype. Now is the time to give it a shoot.

Into next time everyone have fun this weekend.:)

Audible Review: Pucked Off

Author: Helena Hunting

Narrators: Rose Dioro & Jacob Morgan

Length: 9hrs & 36 mins

Series: Pucked-5

Rating: 5/5

Summary: I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance.”

I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.

Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.

I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.

At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.

I shouldn’t want her.

But I do.

I should leave her alone.

But I won’t.

My Thoughts:

Goodbye Pucked series I will be rereading you in the future 🙂

Lance has always been my top Pucked male and not just because of his ascent. Okay that has a lot to do with it. However though he likes to fight, and sleep with a bunch of bunnies. However he is also loyal and loves gummy bears which makes me smile at childlike he can be. He also has a thing about being touched and is really broken. Not all of it was thanks to Tasha but she’s sure as hell didn’t help. Tash in the beginning of the series didn’t seem bad person, and I even thought she may be a good choice for Lance. However reading this book will change your mind quick.

The actual love interest had a little camo in the second book and came back to help Lance with his problems. I loved Poppy in how she knew Lance before he became a hockey player. They reconnect because Lance needed a massage therapist, and though he was didn’t want to he went. I love how she is the one who can break down Lance’s defenses making him happy.

There interaction especially in the beginning was cute. For the simple reason Lance didn’t know how to talk to Poppy. Sure Lance knows how to flirt and seduce however doesn’t mean he knows how to deal with someone he wants to date. So watching him fumble was the cutest thing and I had to pause a couple times over the cuteness of it.

Poppy and Lance did had some issues with the whole if we don’t talk about it we wont ruin the start of their relationship. Which I was blah about however it lead to a Violet and Lily step in, and they worked it out so its fine.

I also love the little snippets of the other Pucked characters. The little you see of them is enough to make the book a full  experience. I love the audiobook as I’ve loved all the other ones. To hear the ascent and just get involved in the book by how Rose Dioro & Jacob Morgan. Plus with the fact that Hunting brings humor with heart felt moments made the 9 hours and 36 mins not long at all.

Am so sad that am saying goodbye to this series with all this great couples that I got to know and laugh at and with. Though I would have love to know what the heck is going on between a couple that we never knew what really was going on. Am fine with this conclusion, and just glad I got my Lance story and that he got his happy ever after and there’s no more Tash.

So yeah I loved this series and sad to see it go. I need to find another like this at some point or just reread this a thousand times I don’t know yet. Thanks for reading my review and leave a comment on if you’ve read this book or another series like this.

T5W:Favorite Polarizing Books

Okay to be honest I had to look what polarizing means also which books count for it. And this is what I came up with and hope you enjoy.

10818853

50 Shades Series by E.L. James: Lot of people give this series a lot of hate, but I can’t help but love it. I get that its not the best thing written or the concept people can’t get behind. Yet this series is a totally guilty pleasure for me that I wont apologize for.

how-to-love

How to Love by Katie Cotugno: This is a your going to either like it or dislike it. I was the first one. This was just a sweet contemporary that I enjoyed and glad I read.

41865

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: I read this series before it got really popular and I remember loving it. I probably couldn’t read it again without cringing however I’ll always have that first time.

19063

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: It took me a bit to get into the book itself but dang when I did I loved it. This book made a rare thing happen and I cried which will keep this book special to me.

rebel-belle

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins: I didn’t like this book which sucks because the concept should have made me like it. However the main character Harper was not my favorite and her decisions ruined it.

So I did four loves and one dislike and its all fun. Let me know what you think.

BOOK REVIEW: Tight End

Author: Devon McCormack

Format: Kindle

Page Count: 304

Summary: Its about a total player NFL player Tad Roarke who came out as a gay male and is getting death letters. Which his father and manger bring in Agent Bryce Finnegan who just got out of a undercover that went bad. Neither man wants to be in this situation, but decide to let it work. Neither thought it was becoming more than a working relationship but it did which lead to more drama.

MY THOUGHTS:

I really enjoyed this m/m storyline. There is no cheating though there is a ex that likes to be snobby when Tad runs into him. Also other than the drama of the mystery of who is killing outed gay people. Its pretty much who is going to break first with Tad and Bryce.

Tad is one of those how is shown in the media isn’t true, but he also didn’t try and tell the truth so it doesn’t help his image. Then there’s Bryce who just wants a desk job but now have to get used to body guarding a guy like Tad. However as the relationship grows into something Bryce is pushed into a life that he was not made for.

I like how realistic this book got. With the tension between Tad and his dad where Tad calls him by his first name. Then there is the fact that both Tad and Bryce have so many baggage that they helped each other.

For side characters Darren was my favorite though I feel like he was short changed a bit. He just wanted someone for himself and it didn’t happen which was heartbreaking. Also Tad’s dad was a hard ass who doesn’t seem to care for his son. However he does love him though he doesn’t always show it.

So other than a working on feeling both men have to deal with football season, backstabbing, being shot at, and adapting. I just simply loved this book and happy that I read this. I got this through kindle unlimited for free and if you want to try it out and have unlimited please give it a shot.
